From the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework to trade negotiations with Taiwan, the Biden administration’s trade policy is now a part of a broader discussion of “economic security”—building resilient supply chains with trusted partners while limiting exposure to risky markets like China. This approach raises multiple questions: Does Washington’s continued aversion to large multilateral trade agreements in favor of piecemeal efforts support America’s economic and geopolitical interests? Will Congress continue to take the backseat in America’s trade and geo-economic policymaking?

Hudson Senior Fellow Riley Walters will discuss these questions and more with former US Trade Representative Ambassador Susan Schwab.
