John O'Sullivan

John O'Sullivan was a Senior Fellow at Hudson Institute. He is also editor-at-large of National Review where he served as editor-in-chief for nine years. He was editor of the distinguished foreign policy quarterly, the National Interest, from 2003 to 2005 and editor-in-chief of United Press International from 2000 to 2003. From 1998 to 2000 he was an editorial consultant to Hollinger International Inc. and a leading member of the team that created the National Post, the first national newspaper in Canada that reached a circulation of more than 350,000 within a few months of its launch.

His previous posts have included special adviser to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, associate editor of the London Times, assistant editor of the London Daily Telegraph, and editor of Policy Review.

O'Sullivan was educated at London University and stood for Parliament as a Conservative in the 1970 general election for Gateshead West.

He is the founder and co-chairman of the New Atlantic Initiative, an international bipartisan effort dedicated to reinvigorating and expanding the Atlantic community of democracies.  The NAI was formally launched at the Congress of Prague in May 1996 by President Vaclav
Havel and Lady Thatcher.

O'Sullivan has published articles in Encounter, Commentary, Prospect, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Policy Review, the American Spectator, the Spectator (London), Quadrant, Hibernia and other journals.

He is on the Advisory Council of the Social Affairs Unit London, and the Honorary Board of the Civic Institute in Prague. He was made a Commander of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in the 1991 New Year's Honors List and he lectures on British and American politics.
