The consequences of the coronavirus pandemic are threatening to undermine positive perceptions of food safety and reshape the entire food supply system. Consumers and industry workers are concerned about their safety as well as the safety of the products they consume. And while there is plenty of food for Americans, the food supply chain has been stretched beyond its limits, evidenced by panic buying at supermarkets, demand-driven production disruptions at food processing facilities, and outbreaks of COVID-19 at meat plants.

The crisis presents the food industry with opportunities to not only address consumer and worker concerns but also to better position itself and be more efficient once the pandemic ends.

What is the industry doing to make their products and shopping safe? What new consumer behaviors do we expect to continue? How will the industry and the food supply fundamentally be changed? Join Hudson Institute and top food industry leaders as they answer these and other questions.
