COVID-19 has inflicted worldwide economic damage and killed hundreds of thousands of people. However, because of the innovative potential of the modern biopharmaceutical industry, it is unlikely to be a repeat of the Spanish Flu Pandemic of 1918, which killed tens of millions of people around the globe.

Companies like Gilead, Moderna, and many others are investing billions of dollars and thousands of labor hours to create new tests, treatments, and a vaccine to minimize, if not effectively eradicate, the coronavirus.

Join Hudson Institute for a discussion with top industry experts on the role of patents in funding innovative developments; why some policy-makers have proposed restricting or eliminating patent rights on COVID-19 related treatments or vaccines; and how empowering the private-sector is a likely winning strategy in the battle to defeat the "invisible enemy."
