WASHINGTON, D.C. — Hudson Institute announced the addition of Senior Fellows David Feith and Michael Solon and Visiting Fellow Nathan Simington to its research staff.

“Both as a public official and a policy expert, David has taken on some of the key strategic questions facing the United States,” said Hudson President and CEO John P. Walters. “Thanks to his efforts, our nation is better positioned in the economic and technological struggle against the Chinese Communist Party. We are grateful he will continue that work at Hudson.”

In the first Trump administration, Mr. Feith served as deputy assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs. More recently he was special assistant to the president and senior director for technology and national security on the US National Security Council. In these roles, he helped to craft the US Indo-Pacific strategy and reorient American policy toward China. Prior to his time in government, Mr. Feith wrote on Asian economic and political affairs for The Wall Street Journal.

In his 25-year tenure as an advisor on budget, trade, and debt-reduction policy, Michael Solon has served as economic policy adviser to Senator Phil Gramm, director of the Senate Steering Committee under Chairman Gramm, and deputy staff director of the Senate Banking Committee. Following his time with the Banking Committee, Mr. Solon joined the office of Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell as a policy director.

“Mike’s tenure in the Senate speaks for itself,” Mr. Walters said. “He’s been a steadfast advocate for sound policy on appropriations, trade, and debt reduction in some of the most effective and influential offices in Congress. Now, America needs to contend with the cost of defending ourselves and our allies in a dangerous world. Mike’s work on the economics of doing that is going to be crucial.”

Nathan Simington is a former commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission. Previously, he was senior advisor at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and senior counsel to Brightstar Corp., an international mobile device services company.

“Throughout his career in both the private and public sector, Nathan has helped America maintain a robust innovation ecosystem,” said Walters. “That’s essential to our prosperity and—increasingly—our national security interests. We’re grateful to have his policy expertise on our team.”
