Venezuela is undergoing a political transformation that few thought was possible just last year. As Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez continues his battle with cancer, the latest polling shows his opposition is uniting behind Henrique Capriles. With elections scheduled for later this year, Capriles is polling within striking distance of Chávez. The results of this election will have immediate ramifications on Latin America at large.

What is the current political climate of Venezuela? How will the citizens of Venezuela be affected by this election? What would the future of Venezuela be if Chávez cancels or loses the anticipated October elections?

Hudson's Center for Latin American Studies—in conjunction with Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis—held a timely and necessary analysis of the current political and economic state of affairs in Venezuela, featuring a distinguished panel of experts on Venezuela.
