Hudson Institute will host His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United States of America, for a discussion on US-UAE relations and UAE foreign policy. Hudson Institute’s Ravenel B. Curry III Distinguished Fellow Walter Russell Mead will moderate the conversation.
His Excellency Yousef Al Otaiba became UAE Ambassador to the US in July 2008. Throughout his tenure, he’s dedicated himself to advancing UAE-US relations in security, counterterrorism, trade, cultural exchange and humanitarian aid. During his time as an ambassador, he’s played a key role in several historic events including the Abraham Accords, the Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi and nationwide efforts in the US to stop the spread of COVID-19. Motivated by the UAE’s founding values, he is determined to shape a better future across the Middle East and around the world.
The signing of the Abraham Accords, regional security concerns and advancing economic opportunities all present significant challenges and opportunities for the UAE moving forward. The change of US presidential administrations will affect the country as well, particularly as the incoming administration is expected to prioritize East Asian security and seek to rejoin the Iran Deal. Hudson Institute is pleased to welcome Ambassador Otaiba to discuss these issues and others.
