Secretary of the Army

**Please be advised: This event will premiere on this page at 9:00 a.m. EDT, Wednesday, October 7.**

Join Hudson Institute for a conversation with US Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy on the US Army’s Project Convergence, the Army's priorities for new weapons systems and readiness, and the implications of looming budget constraints. The conversation will be hosted by Hudson Director of the Center for Defense Concepts and Technology Bryan Clark.

The United States Army is undertaking its most significant modernization since the Cold War, introducing unmanned vehicles, directed energy weapons, stealth technology, and new electromagnetic spectrum systems into U.S. ground forces. US Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy is leading these efforts and balancing the Army's technological advancement with its current responsibilities and need to deter aggression by great powers in Europe and Asia. Decisions being made during the Army’s ongoing budget deliberations will provide the starting point for the presidential administration that takes office next January and will shape the force for a decade thereafter.
