Join Hudson Institute for a conversation with Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, for a discussion on Israeli foreign policy in the shadow of the COVID-19 outbreak. Hudson Senior Fellow Michael Doran will moderate the discussion, which comes on the heels of an agreement between the Likud Party and its major rival, Kahol Lavan, to form a national unity government. This agreement put an end to a prolonged political stalemate that produced three elections in less than one year.

While the top priority of the national unity government will be to guide Israel through the current crisis, the coronavirus will not put an end to the other challenges that Israel faces, not least of which is the threat from Iran, whose nuclear program continues to advance and whose behavior in Syria and Iraq remains a source of major concern. In addition to challenges there are also opportunities, such as President Donald Trump’s “deal of the century” plan for an historic Palestinian-Israeli settlement.

How will the national unity government approach the COVID-19 outbreak, threats from Iran and Syria, and how will it approach the peace plan?
