2019 was a turbulent and busy year for Afghanistan—from the presidential election to the stalled negotiations with the Taliban and speculation of a U.S. withdrawal. Amid the uncertainty surrounding Afghanistan's future at the start of a new decade, Hudson Institute will host an event launching the Afghanistan Institute of Strategic Studies' (AISS) 2019 Report.

The panel discussion will focus on the current attitudes of the Afghan people towards the challenges facing their country, as captured in the report. It will also address questions related to these challenges. How do they view the ongoing negotiations with the Taliban? What do they seek in future democratically elected leaders? What will the priorities of the government be in 2020?

Join Hudson for a panel discussion on what 2019 meant for Afghanistan, and what it may signal about the path forward in the new year.

NOTE: This event is open to the press. All members of the media should RSVP to press@hudson.org.
