Will the Ukraine crisis lead to an improvement in U.S.-Turkish relations? Turkey has conducted a delicate balancing act in its relations with Russia. On the one hand, Ankara has emerged in recent years as a staunch supporter of Ukraine, upholding its independence and territorial integrity and arming its military with advanced weapons. On the other hand, Ankara has also sought to compartmentalize its differences with Moscow, even going so far as to purchase the Russian S-400 missile defense systems—a move that prompted the United States to impose sanctions on Turkey. Will the shared support for Ukraine and fear of Russian expansionism push the United States and Turkey back together? Join Hudson Institute for this timely discussion.
