Join Hudson Institute for a conversation with Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development Bonnie Glick on the role of U.S. foreign assistance in great power competition during the COVID-19 pandemic. The discussion will be moderated by Hudson Fellow Blaise Misztal.

As the United States grapples with the coronavirus, the disease is exacting an even heavier toll on emerging markets and developing countries. These societies—often with weak institutions, fledgling economies, major debts, and simmering tensions or ongoing conflicts—face not only a growing public health crisis, but also famine, financial meltdown, rising extremism, violence, and meddling by autocratic states.

What is the U.S. doing to continue its legacy of providing effective foreign assistance to developing countries? How is U.S. foreign aid adapting to the added challenge of its competitors seeking to advance their interests and expand their influence in developing countries? Deputy Administrator Glick will address these and other questions.
