Hudson Institute will host Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Andrei Iancu for a discussion on intellectual property. The USPTO is responsible for protecting American innovation and entrepreneurship by granting patents for the protection of inventions and to register trademarks.

Director Iancu will offer keynote remarks on the changing role of patents and trademarks in the modern information economy and the federal effort in defense of IP. Director Iancu will then sit down with Hudson Senior Fellow Tom Duesterberg to continue the discussion.

Andrei Iancu serves as the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and as Director of the USPTO. Mr. Iancu and the USPTO advise the Secretary of Commerce, the President, and other U.S. government agencies on a variety of IP policy matters. Before joining the USPTO, Under Secretary Iancu was the Managing Partner at Irell and Manella LLP, where he focused on intellectual property litigation and appeared before the USPTO, the Court of Appeals, and the U.S. International Trade Commission.
