On Tuesday, March 7, philanthropy and international development leaders discussed current trends in global philanthropy at a critical time when government crackdowns on non-profits and cross-border financial flows threaten the growth of domestic and international giving and even civil society. This and other troubling developments are highlighted in the latest Index of Global Philanthropy and Remittances and Index of Philanthropic Freedom, comprehensive sources on international philanthropy and other financial flows.

The event also celebrated the transfer of the Indices from Hudson Institute to the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. These guides to global philanthropy—widely used by policy-makers, practitioners, and donors—will be institutionalized in the world’s leading school of philanthropy where they can continue to grow. Results from both Indices were discussed by a distinguished panel.
