On November 8, Hudson Institute convened a panel to discuss recently reimposed U.S. sanctions against Iran. Panelists included Hudson Senior Fellow Michael Doran; Council on Foreign Relations’ Senior Fellow Ray Takeyh; and Washington Institute for Near East Policy Adjunct Fellow Jay Solomon. The panel was moderated by Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Lee Smith.

The Trump administration’s recently re-imposed sanctions on Iran target the oil and banking sectors. The White House and its allies claim that in leveling these sanctions, the president has fulfilled the promise to kill the Iran Deal once and for all. However, some experts contend that the administration’s actions fall short of ending the deal and instead adopt Europe’s plan to keep the deal alive and preserve the Iran Deal.
