Renowned constitutional law professor Randy Barnett recently completed Our Republican Constitution: Securing the Liberty and Sovereignty of We the People The book details the historical and ongoing tension between competing views of the U.S. Constitution: a democratic view that the Constitution evolves with changes in majoritarian will, and a republican view that the Constitution protects pre-existing inalienable rights despite shifts in public sentiment.

On July 28th, Hudson Institute hosted Randy Barnett, Carmack Waterhouse Professor of Legal Theory at the Georgetown University Law Center, for a discussion of his latest book and other issues. Harold Furchtgott-Roth, Director of Hudson's Center for the Economics of the Internet, moderated the conversation.
