United States Representative (R-Texas) & Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security

2015 was a watershed year in the war against Islamist terrorism—a year when extremists regained momentum and in which terror went viral. Officials are worried 2016 could be worse. On Wednesday morning of January 13th, Hudson Institute hosted House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul for a discussion on the global expanse of terror networks, the heightened threat environment here at home, and how to defend America in a new age of terror. Hudson President and CEO Kenneth R. Weinstein moderated the conversation.

Congressman Michael McCaul is currently serving his sixth term representing Texas' 10th District in the United States Congress. In 2013, Congressman McCaul became Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security. Congressman McCaul is also the Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Inter-Parliamentary Group and serves on both the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Committee on Science and Technology. Congressman McCaul is co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional High Tech Caucus and the Cybersecurity Caucus.
